Who are we?

We are Derby’s local brewer with an award winning beer across every beer style and numerous industry awards for our business acumen. We are a family run business with over 25 years brewing expertise in producing handcrafted premium real ales. We see a growing pub estate as a crucial part of our growth plans, having purchased & fully renovated our first pub The Brewery Tap, Derby’s Royal Standard, for which we received Derby CAMRA city pub of the year 2009 & a civic award for the restoration project. We have recently purchased The Greyhound pub on Friar Gate, Derby. Located on the opposite side of the City the Greyhound is an iconic Derby pub, found in the heart of Derby’s bustling City Centre. 

The role
 
A
s the Assistant Manager of the Greyhound, you will be responsible for assisting the manager in all aspects of the day to day running of any successful pub, including cellar work, setting rota’s, ordering, taking deliveries, back office & bar work. You will be part of the management team of Bar Manager, Assistant Manager & two Bar Supervisors. In addition you will be involved in helping decide the strategic direction of the site in conjunction with the company directors.

An experienced assistant manager who is enthusiastic & passionate about what they do. A hard working, motivated and committed individual, with attention to detail who thrives in a busy business. A people person, with great communication skills, who is hands on, visible and capable of leading and inspiring a team from the front. A passion for quality, initiative & a good sense of humour are all vital & of course a love of beers, wines & spirits.     

Responsibilities of the role

Day to day running and input into the strategic direction of the business using initiative to ensure the business meets its full potential. It is essential that you help develop staff through the business, working along side the manager this will form part of your role. Any applicant must always embody the standards for the outlet and strong knowledge and experience in real ale management, numeracy skills and IT literacy are fundamental to the role.

Hours of work

Due to the nature of the business the candidate must be flexible in terms of hours which will include evening and weekend work.
